Important notice: From 3rd May 2017, there are no MPs until after the General Election on June 8th. Much of the content on this website was created when I was an MP. I am now the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Ruislip Northwood & Pinner. My office in Westminster is now closed, but my office in Ruislip Northwood & Pinner will remain open. I will only be able to do urgent pieces of casework. You can contact me at nickhurdconservatives@gmail.com or call the office on 01923 822 876. It has been a real honour and pleasure to serve this area in Parliament.

Nick Hurd MP welcomes New Transport Minister and holds his feet to the fire regarding HS2

October 23, 2013

As you may well know, the Government reshuffle welcomed Robert Goodwill MP as the new Transport Minister responsible for Phase One of HS2.

I have written a letter to him to welcome him into the important position which he now holds, and have outlined the specific issues that we are facing in Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner.

Please find this letter below and I will update the website with the reply when I receive it.

NCS Hillingdon

October 15, 2013

National Citizen Service

This weekend, I was incredibly proud to attend the graduation of 248 young people from Hillingdon who took part in National Citizen Service this year. They have had the opportunity to meet people from different backgrounds; learn valuable new skills and make a positive difference in the community. As the Minister responsible, it was great also to get such positive feedback on the programme from young people and parents… One girl came up to thank me for an experience she described as “life-changing”. That made my weekend.

These young people from Hillingdon are part of a national movement of young people who have taken part in NCS. So far over 65,000 have graduated from this once in a lifetime opportunity to make new friends; learn valuable new skills; and make a positive mark in their communities. The Government is expanding the scheme rapidly with the ambition of making it available to every 16 year old .
