Jewish Volunteering Network

Jewish Voluntary Network

About JVN

The concept of the Jewish Volunteering Network, JVN, started when one of the founding members decided she had spare time on her hands and would like to volunteer but did not know where to start. It occurred to her how much easier it would be to have a portal where all Jewish charities could promote their volunteering vacancies. Since it’s inception JVN has grown into a source of information for charities and volunteers alike and actively promotes volunteering in the Jewish community.

JVN is a national charity connecting people across the community. We work across the voluntary, public and private sectors to raise the profile of volunteering within the Jewish community. Our highly developed website helps volunteers find suitable opportunities and our telephone helpline offers a bespoke matching service for specific projects.

Whether you choose to give one hour a week to a local organisation, one month contributing to a national campaign or go volunteering abroad, JVN matches volunteers with the right opportunities to fit their interests and skills.

Our mission

JVN is proud to have hundreds of charities in our network offering roles as varied as delivering meals, putting on pantomimes, making food parcels, writing websites as well as administration, hands-on social welfare projects and fundraising. Our aims are:

To bring volunteers and volunteering opportunities together

To stimulate more Jewish people to volunteer

To be a beacon of governance and a model of good volunteering practice for every Jewish volunteer-involving organisation

To become the central source of inspiration and leadership for volunteering in the Jewish community

UPDATE:

The Jewish Volunteering Network (JVN) is busy getting ready for National Volunteers’ Week 1-7 June.  We will be actively thanking volunteers and promoting volunteering at various locations across north London to celebrate this important week. Please see below details for timing and locations.

We would be delighted if you could come to join us and see for yourself how we get involved in the importance of volunteering within the community.

Our aim for this week is  to raise the profile of the many volunteers who regularly contribute to our community and inspire others to do so as well. Individuals will be encouraged to use the week to find out more about volunteering and get assistance in finding the right opportunities for them based on their availability, skills, interest, location, etc.

During National Volunteers’ Week we will also be launching the Companion to Volunteering; a good practice guide to volunteering and volunteer managers.

We are delighted to invite you to the launch of the Companion to Volunteering on Wednesday June 3rd during National Volunteers Week.

The Companions will be freely available to all invitees on the evening.

The launch will take place at the newly refurbished LSJS library adjacent to our offices in Hendon.

The event will run from 17.30 until 19.00, light refreshments will be served.

Kindly RSVP to; hilary@jvn.org.uk
