Nick Hurd celebrates Volunteers Week
4th June 2010
Nick visited Pinner-based charity Kids Can Achieve and later went on to help serve lunch to senior citizens at the Northwood Live at Home Scheme to celebrate Volunteers Week today.
Kid Can Achieve was set up to support local children and young people by parents who felt their children’s educational, emotional and social and psychological difficulties were not being recognised.
Nick said:
“I was delighted to be able to visit Kids Can Achieve as it is a great example of what parents can achieve when they want something better.”

Nick, who as Minister for Civil Society has responsibility for volunteering nationally, also visited volunteer and youth projects in Slough yesterday.
He joined Age Concern volunteers helping to restore a garden of an elderly resident in Slough today and also the Britwell Youth and Community Project who have been awarded The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service this year.
