HS2 Update
Nick comments on the HS2 consultation.
Nick Hurd MP said:
“I am very aware that many of my constituents have very serious concerns about both the principle of HS2 and this proposed route. This goes well beyond those whose homes are directly affected. There is a general feeling that the price of this route is too high; not least in terms of blight and damage to precious landscapes. There is also a great deal of frustration with the consultation process and the lack of detail available to the public. With my colleagues in Parliament and Hillingdon Council, I will continue to represent those concerns to the highest level of government.
“Personally, I believe that this country will need High Speed Rail in the future. But we need to get that big decision right both in terms of timing and route. All intelligent options need to be explored. That is why it is so important that Government minds remain open during this consultation.”
