Name: Paul Strickland Scanner Centre
Based: Mount Vernon Hospital, Northwood
Paul Strickland Scanner Centre needs volunteers to help enhance its fundraising activities and relies on donations and support in kind or funding from local businesses. This will help the charity continue saving lives through early cancer diagnosis, monitoring and research.
Paul Strickland Scanner Centre is an independent medical charity based at Mount Vernon Hospital, a specialist cancer centre located in Greater London.
We provide comprehensive scanning services to the NHS and private health sectors for the diagnosis, treatment monitoring and research of cancer and other life-limiting diseases, using leading edge PET/CT, MRI and CT scanners. We offer the highest quality imaging services with specialist staff to deliver excellence to all patients and clinicians.
Donations and legacies help fund new scanners which have to be replaced every 3 – 5 years. Annually, we undertake more than 13,500 scans giving patients the opportunity of a healthier future.
You can play a vital role in helping us continue putting patients at the heart of what we do.
Volunteers are a valuable and important part of our team. Their skills, experience and knowledge enhance our fundraising efforts and activities. There are many reasons why individuals volunteer with us, but the main outcome is the positive and real impact their contribution makes.
We support our volunteers with an induction programme, on the job training and continual development. We have a Friends Club which many volunteers join to take advantage of a varied and vibrant social programme – a great opportunity to make friends and it’s free to join.
Whether you want to be a marshal at a walk or run, bake cakes, help us in the office, sell raffle tickets, distribute fundraising event information in your local area or simply hold a fundraising event to benefit our Scanner Appeal, we want to offer you the chance to join us.
You + Us = Benefit to our patients
Be a part of our equation to solve the important question of offering cancer patients the best we can TOGETHER as a team.

Bring giving to life
We receive no government funding and rely on donations to help fund a continuous scanner replacement programme. This programme ensures we remain at the forefront of medical imaging, offering our patients arguably the best scanning facilities right on their doorstep.
Scanners cost upwards of £1m each, so every donation is important no matter how large or small. Regular giving helps too as it allows us to plan for patients’ changing and future needs.
Donating is simple.
Call us on 01923 844290 to make a donation using any major debit or credit card.

The Business of giving back
Fundraising initiatives, donations in kind and direct donations are all ways our business community can support us. Whether you are a one man or woman business, a small business, a High Street retailer or an international organization – we need you.
Here are just a few ways to help
Sponsorship for a fundraising event, eg: sponsoring a hole at our annual charity golf day
Organising a corporate fundraising activity in aid of the Scanner Appeal
Donating prizes for raffles and auctions
Promoting the Pay as you Earn scheme (PAYE) to your employees
Donating your business experience and skills to help us develop our fundraising activities.
